Alger Heights

Once upon a time, a small neighborhood in Grand Rapids, MI called Alger Heights has been defined between the boundaries of North, Kalamazoo Avenue, and Burton Street. Alger Heights is the only neighborhood in the city of Michigan that was already established during the Great Depression and World War II. Through the trying time that the neighborhood has already endured, it has become resilient and developed and actually still apparent along the present tree-lined streets.

Area Schools

Alger Heights is a family-oriented neighborhood that values education for kids of all ages. Including Brookside Elementary located at 2505 Madison Ave. SE. This school serves 274 students in kindergarten up until 5th Grade and has been encouraging students to actively participate in a district-created/district-wide Academic Plan that enables academic plans for their career and college readiness curriculum.

Alger Middle School at 921 Alger St. serves 510 in 6th to 8th students also participates in an academic plan that is centered in the career and college readiness curriculum.
